So it appears the issue was introduced sometime between when they released the zac tables to the general public and the 5.38 firmware. I do know that I could install the bundle when it came out and I was not on the factory firmware. It may have occurred earlier but I don't update to every firmware and I'm not sure there were updates to the tables before that anyway. The lockup could be the result of the watchdog not properly performing its function.įor reference, I know the problem has existed from at least in the 5.38 firmware. I suspect there's a watchdog that restarts the ALP when it detects certain failures. I also had a single install attempt lock up the ALP. Subsequent installs to the same drive seem to always end with the ALP spontaneously restarting in the middle of the download. That also didn't work.Īfter all these trials the only thing that I can say I noticed is that it appears the first time the Zac 1-4 is installed to a new FlashX drive, the install fails part way through the download with a verification failure. When that didn't work, I also tried plugging the hub into the main board where the ALP controller plugs in. Remembering some of the USB issues with the ALU, I tried installing the bundle by plugging a powered USB hub into the IO ports on the top of the ALP and plugging the USB drive into that. The two 16GB drives used the entire drive. The 128GB and 64GB drives had a 16GB first partition for FlashX. The drives were a PNY 128GB 3.1, a SanDisk 64GB 3.1, a PNY 16GB 3.0, and a Lexar 16GB 3.0.

I've tested 4 different USB drives and still cannot get the Zac 1-4 bundle to install with the latest firmware. Putting this info out there for others that have the same issue.
